From Tršće we first ride down a descent with attractive curves to Smrečje and Mali Lug, the section where the famous mountain car race takes place, from where the views of the magnificent forests of Gorski Kotar can be savoured. Make sure to stop at the impressive wooden statue of Petar Klepac, the legendary giant with supernatural powers who symbolizes the strength of a man from Gorski Kotar. We turn left to Mali Lug and follow the road that leads to Zamost. After about 10 km, the road leads to the village of Kupari, the starting point for the source of the Kupa River.

Visit the interpretation centre “Birth house of the Kupa River” and take a walk to the hydrogeomorphological monument of nature – the source of the Kupa River that will enchant you with its green colour. In Kupari we cross the Kupa River and continue along the right bank of the river to the village of Hrvatsko and then upstream along the Čabranka River. In Zamost you can relax by the old mill and sawdust that are preserved in their original form. When in Čabar, visit Zrinski Castle from the 17th century.  Try the cheeses and herbal juices from Pintar Family Farm and gain strength for the last 10 km of the climb.
