Kama\u010dnik is the 3.2-kilometre-long right tributary of the Dobra river. Its mouth is located south of Vrbovsko, near the railway station. A hospitality establishment was built at the site. A lovely 1-kilometre-long canyon suitable for tourist visits can be accessed from the mouth of Kama\u010dnik. The Kama\u010dnik gorge, etched deep in carbonate rocks, is characterised by numerous rapids, water vortexes and small waterfall areas, together forming a winding labyrinth of passages in the shadow of the rocks. The canyon can be comfortably traversed on a landscaped hiking trail with wooden galleries and small bridges, built in the style closely resembling that of the special geomorphological reserve of the Devil\u2019s Passage by Skrad.
High water levels make tours of Kama\u010dnik all the more exciting. Although the river\u2019s water volumes vary greatly throughout the year, the Kama\u010dnik source and watercourse are one of the most significant contributors of water to the Dobra river, especially in times of rainfall. As a typical karst watercourse, Kama\u010dnik is also characterised by intermittent infiltrations of water to the canyon course river bed, which lowers the flow rate in times of draught.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Skrad\u2013Severin na Kupi section could be nicknamed \u201cCycling from the Dobra to the Kupa river\u201d. Starting from Skrad, the source of the Dobra river, the trail first takes you across the hilly terrain of the river\u2019s left bank where you can take in the scents of numerous orchards and their seasonal fruits. Follow the trail down the Dobra river valley, a treasure trove of Gorski Kotar\u2019s many hidden gems. Keep cycling from Vrbovsko through vast beech forest expanses \u2013 the border separating the Croatian mountain region from continental Croatia. At the end of the section, you will find the Kupa river and Zrinski and Frankopan castles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trail circles around the significant landscape of Kama\u010dnik by Vrbovsko, through which flows the 3200-metre-long karst watercourse of the Kama\u010dnik canyon. Starting from the Kama\u010dnik restaurant, the trail follows an uphill route through lush vegetation above the canyon, then descends to the village of Senjsko on the Caroline road. After an around 1-kilometre ride on the main road, turn right toward the Dobra river valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rest of the ride is along the route of the railway track and the Dobra river \u2013 an exceptionally beautiful and lovely watercourse with a diverse shore and river bed, as well as clear water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting from Kama\u010dnik, cycle through the hamlet of Brezova Poljana to Gomirje, a village that is home to the westernmost Serbian Orthodox monastery in Europe. The trail will then take you through forest expanses and on an around 10-kilometre ascent to Bijela Kosa. Take a break and treat yourself to gorgeous views of the Vrbovsko landscapes, then embark on a well-deserved descent toward Jablan and turn back to Vrbovsko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, you can take a walk along the Kama\u010dnik canyon and enjoy its deeply romantic atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
