Pal\u010dava \u0160i\u0161a is a \u010cop family house from 1856. It is a cultural monument located on the Croatian-Slovenian border, in the centre of Ple\u0161ce. The house showcases the life of a rich farm from the mid-19th century, as well as the life and culture of the people living in the \u010cabranka valley.<\/p>\n

The estate preserved the old shop with original equipment, the vaulted ceiling of the ground floor with a presentation of the inn, and the old office on the floor above, as well as the abundantly furnished and decorated salon from the 1880s and the bedroom. The ethnographic collection, attic and vaulted ceilings of the former wine wholesale can also be toured. The house also includes an outbuilding, the only such fully stone building in the valley.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Brod na Kupi\u2013Tr\u0161\u0107e section of the Cycling Trail of Gorski Kotar takes you upstream, along the upper flow of the Kupa river, whose preserved environment and biodiversity makes for a perfect home to more than 100 diurnal butterfly species. The entire Kupa river valley is often nicknamed the \u201cButterfly Valley\u201d for this very reason. The road will take you along the right bank of the Kupa river, through the picturesque hamlets of Ku\u017eelj, Ga\u0161parci and Turke, and the numerous rapids and beaches are perfect for taking a dip. The water-powered mill and sawmill in Zamost and the ethnological collection of the house of Pal\u010dava \u0160i\u0161a in Ple\u0161ce are also a must-visit. The development of this area is credited to Petar Zrinski, who had an iron smelting plant built in \u010cabar in 1651. The most famous structure in \u010cabar is the 16th-century Zrinski Castle, located only 700 metres from the \u010cabranka river source. A more demanding ascent awaits you on the way from \u010cabar to Tr\u0161\u0107e, but every metre crossed will be well worth the effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting from Brod Moravice, the trail takes you to the village of Dela\u010di and its ethnological monument protected by the Ministry of Culture \u2013 the Dela\u010d House, dating from 1644. In the house, you can see valuable ethnological and ethnographic displays. After around 3 kilometres, you will take an asphalt road to the right, leading to the ethno village of \u0160imatovo. Once there, you will again turn right, to a branching road toward the hamlet of Zavrh, which will lead you to the Obrh viewpoint and source, from where you will enjoy the views of the Kupa river canyon and the Slovenian hamlet of \u017dlebe. Then, return to \u0160imatovo and keep cycling to another viewpoint with a magnificent view of the neighbouring Slovenia and the Kupa river valley \u2013 the Kavranova Stijena viewpoint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On your way back, cycle gently uphill through Klepe\u0107e Selo toward Moravi\u010dka Sela and back to Brod Moravice, an area famous their brandies made from autumnal fruits, among which the \u201cbrinjevica\u201d juniper brandy is renowned for its healing properties. On your route, you will cycle by a tall rock pillar known as \u201cpiljdak\u201d, which was used to alert the local population of incoming attacks by Ottoman Turks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
