The Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in the Li\u010dko Polje field has been a pilgrimage site since 1606, visited by those in search of prayer and healing. According to local tradition, Virgin Mary appeared here in the 17th century and since then, the Shrine radiates spiritual peace, calming energy and sanctity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thousands of pilgrims make their way to the site, and the main annual festivity takes place on 5 August, during the blessing of pilgrims and vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting from the centre of Fu\u017eine, follow the flow of the Li\u010danka river as you tour a few of the Li\u010dko Polje field lakes \u2013 namely the Potko\u0161 lake, a famous trout spawning area, and the Marasovo lake, located in the very field. After passing by the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared in the snow in 1733, continue cycling down the asphalt road toward Novi Vinodolski.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the 10-kilometre mark, turn right and take the gravel path, following it to the highest point of the route at 990 metres. From there on, a ride with dynamic changes of terrain configuration follows across the slopes of Kobiljak and Medvi\u0111ak peaks, after which you descend toward the village of Li\u010d. Before reaching Fu\u017eine, make sure to tour the scenic village of Li\u010d and visit one of its attractions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting from the centre of Fu\u017eine, the trail stretches along the main road toward Li\u010d, passing under the railway bridge and the Drvenja\u010da production plant on the way. A few hundred meters beyond the centre of Li\u010d, the trail turns left onto a gravel path through the Li\u010dko Polje field, all the way to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. Further along, the gravel path leads back to the Li\u010dko Polje field, then turns right for an ascent toward Bitoraj. At the 12-kilometre mark, the trail connects to an asphalt forest path and turns left for descent toward the village of Vrata (please proceed with caution due to heavy forestry machinery!). Once in Vrata, keep following the gravel path across the highway and toward the Roswell cowboy village, but turn left and take the road descending toward the village of Vrelo at the 17-kilometre mark. Follow the trail along the Lepenica and Bajer lakes back to the centre of Fu\u017eine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
