Like a staircase etched into the terrain, Petehovac stands tall on the south-eastern side of Delnice. Beyond it sits a rolling plateau suitable for ski touring, with peaks measuring more than 1000 metres in height, oriented toward the Mrkopalj area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today, the Petehovac Mountain Centre featuring a ski slope and ski lift, as well as an accommodation and hospitality establishment, can be found there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The starting point of the trail is located at the Trg goranskih \u0161umara i drvara (Gorski Kotar Foresters\u2019 and Luggers\u2019 Square) in the Delnice town centre. From there on, take the Supilova Street \u2013 the lifeblood of the town \u2013 to the crossing with Ra\u010dki House, the oldest house in Delnice. Afterwards, follow the trail toward the petrol station, then turn left toward Petehovac. After passing through the railway tunnel, you will come across a gentle ascent. Abandon the asphalt road for the gravel path following along the highway. A steep ascent toward the Polane weekend village follows, which often gets scattered by rainfall, so caution is recommended. The trail then passes through gravel and forest paths around the Mali Petehovac peak until it reaches the asphalt road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Follow the road to \u0160timac peak and its Petehovac Mountain Lodge for some well-deserved refreshments with the most beautiful view of the town. We also recommend you visit the nearby Jezerka source and Jagodina Stijena, located only around 500 metres from the establishment. Start your ride down this scenic cycling trail on the Trg goranskih \u0161umara i drvara (Gorski Kotar Foresters\u2019 and Luggers\u2019 Square), then pass through the Supilova Street and by the Sports Hall to get to an asphalt road, which will take you to the Petehovac Mountain Lodge through a railway tunnel. An easy, but continuous ascent will lead you to \u0160timac peak (at 1024 metres above sea level), which is both a popular summer and winter holiday destination with an eatery. At the nearby viewpoint, you will be treated to the most beautiful view of the town of Delnice, the Delnice valley, the peaks of the north-western Dinaric Alps \u2013 the Croatian Risnjak and the Slovenian Sne\u017enik \u2013 and, in good weather, even the Slovenian Alps. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After a break on Petehovac, return to the Polane area, a weekend village surrounded by vast hayfields. Taking a gravel path around the Mali Petehovac peak, you will be able to descend down the western cliff back to Delnice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting from the centre of Mrkopalj, take the Caroline road in the direction of Ravna Gora, to the Polji\u010dka Kosa area. Once there, turn left and take the gravel road to the Polane outing spot. Keep cycling to the \u010crmu\u017e and Petehovac peaks, then cycle down to Sunger via forest and gravel paths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After a short, but demanding ascent via an asphalt road to Brestova Draga, take the gravel path again. Afterwards, follow the underside of the Rudine area covered in coniferous forest, where you will find the Zagmajna Biathlon Centre and finally, descend toward Mrkopalj.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
