Historical & cultural attractionsRački House
Located in the Supilova Street 94 in Delnice, the Rački House is an approximately 300-year-old cultural and architectural heritage. Get to know this unique building by touring its traditional interior construction and design, adapted to the Gorski Kotar climate.
In the house, you can see the exhibition of traditional Delnice folk costumes knitted with “fiertof” – a traditional red, green and blue apron with tiny flower motifs.
A unique coral necklace with an ornamental pin called “kluofnca” is also displayed here.
Every year in June, the Rački House hosts Saint John’s Eve – a traditional Delnice event held in anticipation of the feast day of Saint John the Baptist. According to folk tradition, on Saint John’s Eve, girls would weave daisy wreaths by the pasture and later toss them on to wooden house roofs to predict when they would get married. The course of the roof on which the wreath landed determined the number of years the girl had to wait for her sweetheart.
