Natural attractionsBajer Lake
The Bajer lake is the oldest reservoir of the Fužine area, immensely rich in water. The lake records an annual rainfall of between 1500 and 2000 millimetres per square metre, and up to 4000 litres in the more extreme years. To keep and use such a vast amount of water, three reservoirs – Bajer, Lepenica and Potkoš – were built in Fužine.
Bajer was built in the 1950s with the construction of a dam right by the settlement of Fužine. Located in the once attractive Ličanka river valley, the Bajer lake has an average depth ranging from 2 to 7 metres and holds approximately one million cubic metres of water. It is suitable for boat, canoe and kayak rides, as well as sailing thanks to its frequent wind currents. An attractive six-kilometre-long promenade wraps around the Bajer lake, frequented by both hikers and cyclists. Apart from hiking and cycling, you can also take a tourist train or a horse-drawn carriage around the lake.
The lake is swarming with fish, making it a real treat for anglers.
